Kibbutz Buchenwald

At the center of the exhibition is a new project made in collaboration with artists Dov Or-Ner, Gil Yefman, and the Kuchinate Collective. The exhibition returns to an episode in history shortly after WWII, and deals with the fracture between “Holocaust” and “Revival.” It raises collective traumas as well as suggestions for healing them. Through the motif of cultured nature, an imagined, fantastic, queer, mystical site is created: this is Kibbutz Buchenwald.

Kuchinate worked with 250 volunteers who helped create Hedgegrow.

The exhibition and the catalog were made possible thanks to the Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Foundation; the video Kibbutz Buchenwald was made with the assistance of the Ostrovsky Family Fund; the installation Hedgegrow was made with the support of the Malka Fund, New York.
